Freezing Time With Photos Capturing Emotions With Words

Where have all the bloggers gone?

Do you know? I’ve been searching the internet for some small Aussie personal bloggers to connect with – but alas google no longer seems to care for them and hence they can’t be found.

Oh, the old days. When personal blogs were ‘the thing’ and you could connect with a community of likeminded onliners who shared your love of words. Actually, like minded is probably not accurate. It was more a hodge podge of difference and part of the fun was expanding your mind to include the perspectives of others. I miss those day. Where have you all gone?

I know. Life has moved on. Tecnology has moved on. In all honesty I have moved on. But I miss sharing my life in words and pictures. Moving thoughts from my ‘inner world’ to the ‘real world’ and seeing them take shape. And watching on as other do the same. Still today, things will happen that’ll remind me of a post someone wrote back in 2014 and I’ll be wondering how their story turned out. Are they still with their partner? What did their kids choose to study at uni? Are they glad they went back and studied law? We shared so much of our lives. But then, as our babes grew up and technology forged onto Instagram and podcasts the world of personal blogging simply stopped.

‘We’ were mostly mummy bloggers who had time between nappy changes and a real need to connect. Most of us were introverts who typically loved to share our lives from the relatively safety of our home. We were indeed the OG of influencer. We were there at the foundation of the merge of PR and self-publishing. Still today I have things in my home gifted to me by the PR fairies in the hope of a good review. And that was fun. But honestly not the reason I loved to blog.

So, where are you my fellow word loving posters of random insights, ideas and home life stories? Is anyone out there? Anyone still enjoy connecting with words you’ve spilled onto a page? I’d love to connect if you do. I can’t promise it will be a regular thing – because we all know life is busy. But I’d love to build a small community of word and photo lovers and maybe feel that connection again. If you’ve got a blog I’d love to know about it. Leave me a link in the comments and I’ll pop right over and say hello.

    Joanne

I’ve met a few through various blog parties; I know of Ruth who blogs at https://playworkeatrepeat.com/, Joanne Tracy actually has a few blogs since she’s a writer but she lives in Australia and has a blog dedicated to food and also writes over on substack too. Her book blog: https://joannetracey.com/blog/ her cooking blog: https://brookfordkitchendiaries.wordpress.com/ There’s also Min of https://writeofthemiddle.com/. Both Min and Joanne host link parties and through them I’ve met other bloggers in Australia, The UK, New Zealand, (the US, like me!). But off the top of my head those are the 3 aussie bloggers I can think of that seem to write about a little bit of everything.

Thank you. Really appreciate you dropping by and those links. That’s so encouraging. It would be wonderful to connect with a small community again.
